We are looking for a qualified HDD Drill Operator to join our Fort Worth team. The ideal candidate will have experience with directional boring equipment such as Vermeer and Ditch Witch, with the ability to set up and operate machines to bore, drill, and mill according to project specifications. This is a hands-on role involving the setup and operation of boring machines, assisting with drilling activities, and general labor at the job site. You will be a key player in ensuring our boring operations run smoothly and safely.
Responsibilities
- Transport boring machinery to job sites using a CDL Class A vehicle
- Set up and operate directional boring equipment
- Dig trenches and assist with construction tasks as needed
- Operate and maintain Ditch Witch and Vermeer Bore Machines
- Connect/disconnect drill pipe sections and locate drill heads and cables
- Ensure safety guidelines are adhered to at all times
- Report job progress and any issues to supervisors
- Maintain accurate records of footage drilled, materials used, and equipment operation
- Troubleshoot issues with boring equipment and drilling processes
- Perform site cleanup and support other crew members
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license (required)
- Experience with directional boring and heavy construction equipment
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions outdoors
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
- Experience with directional boring (preferred)
- Knowledge of safety standards in construction environments
- Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and MVR report
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with trenchers or other construction equipment
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong customer service and professionalism in varied work settings
- Willingness to learn new skills and assist with additional tasks
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours at a time)
- Ability to lift 75 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed
- Capable of performing tasks that involve prolonged standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and crawling
- Specific vision abilities, including color vision, distance vision, and depth perception
- Ability to tolerate work in extreme weather conditions
Working Conditions
This role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions. You’ll operate heavy machinery and assist with other job site duties as part of a close-knit team. Flexibility and collaboration are key to our success.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18-$26 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
