Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed financial analyses of regional operations for guidance of regional and corporate management, including but not limited to monthly commentary, analysis of actual vs. planned results, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports that outline the region's position in areas such as income, expenses, earnings, assets, and liabilities based on past, present, and projected future operations.
- Collaborate with regional operations management to develop and execute actionable plans for improving working capital and cash flow.
- Safeguard and manage the region's financial assets, including ensuring proper accounting and secure handling of company securities.
- Assist in preparing regional budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
- Train and support regional management in the use of financial tools, recommending and implementing additional tools to enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop and enforce robust internal controls to ensure compliance with corporate standards and remediate any identified control deficiencies from prior periods.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of inventory and fixed asset sub-ledgers, implementing processes for regular reconciliation and verification.
- Oversee and support regional audits, including coordinating with auditors, reviewing findings, and implementing recommendations to improve financial controls.
- Invoicing and Accounts Receivable Management:
- Manage the region’s invoicing processes, including identifying and tracing sources of errors, correcting billing records, and ensuring accuracy in all final billings.
- Reconcile errors and verify charges on customer bills, investigating discrepancies to ensure billing accuracy.
- Handle customer credit activities, including assessing creditworthiness, granting and controlling credit limits, and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Ensure timely and effective collection of accounts due, maintaining the accounts receivable ledger, and adjusting customer claims as necessary.
- Monitor and report on the region’s accounts receivable status, including overdue invoices and claims. Implement corporate collection procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with existing and potential customers on credit and collection matters to foster strong relationships and ensure financial stability.
- Advise management on insurance coverage strategies to protect against property losses and liabilities.
- Conduct reviews and implement improvements to internal financial procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax and financial regulations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management to meet organizational needs and priorities.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role; at least 3 years in the oil and gas industry preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA certification is a plus).
- Skills:
Proficient computer skills with knowledge of MS Office and/or company-specific databases. - Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with relational database and reporting systems.
- Strong oral and written communication and analytical skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Knowledge:
- Finance, accounting, budgeting, asset management, and cost control principles.
- Federal and state financial and tax regulations.
- Abilities:
- Analyze complex financial data and prepare detailed financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Use personal protective equipment as required.
- Availability for occasional travel and on-call responsibilities.
